In 2009, Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Management engaged HeineJones to revamp the out-dated trail network wayfinding signage at Lake Mountain Alpine Resort, Australia’s most popular skiing destination.
The HeineJones solution comprises directional, regulatory and identification signage. It combines distinctive colours, maps, LED displays, text, clear symbols and pictograms to convey wayfinding, safety and other information relevant to winter and seasonal activities.
The project required sensitive project management after Black Saturday fires in February 2009 razed resort infrastructure, including signage. Lake Mountain Alpine Resort Management rescheduled the project timeline to ensure the resort would be operational for the opening of the 2009 ski season. HeineJones provided a successful solution by placing a high value on community collaboration and effective stakeholder management.
Lake Mountain signage endures a harsh alpine environment. Our solution is designed to be robust, resistant to vandalism and economical to maintain. Recycled ironbark pylons with brass caps and weathered steel boots are sympathetic to the natural surrounds, while bright sign colours optimise visibility in variable weather conditions.
HeineJones developed innovative technology solutions (solar panels and battery banks) to power the LED display on the mountain. We also used GSM and Bluetooth technology to enable remote programming.
