In 2011, the Mount Buller and Mount Stirling Management Board engaged HeineJones to develop an interpretive sign suite for a recreational bushwalking trail at Mount Stirling Alpine Resort.
Victoria’s Mount Stirling is becoming a significant tourist destination. Offering a range of activities, it is picturesque year round; after the winter snow melts, the mountain is transformed and an abundance of flora and fauna welcomes summer visitors.
The Mount Buller and Mount Stirling Management Board engaged HeineJones to develop an interpretive sign suite for a recreational bushwalking trail, one of the mountain’s key summer attractions. We conducted a thorough audit of the terrain and created a series of interpretive signs to guide and inform visitors.
Distinct yet unobtrusive, the signs offer visual clarity and blend with the natural environment. Encased in sturdy cypress pine posts, each is laser etched, varnished and partially enclosed in aluminium panels. These triple-sided panels have relevant information such as walking distances and approximate times between points of interest. Flora and fauna information is also displayed, in text and images, to engage and inform guests, and enhance their overall experience of the trail.
Our signs include bright-coloured backgrounds, and each colour and shape illuminates and complements the surrounds. The colour sequence is carried onto the angular top of each post, providing a protective cap against the region’s harsh climate.
